Rural Ontario Barn Board
Looking at an old barn in rural Ontario, one is struck with the thought that it seems to defy time. Built by settlers and farmers years ago, the barn was essential to shelter their animals and store feed for the tough winter ahead. The nearby forests were the primary source of their building materials - Elm, Maple, Beech, Cedar, Hemlock and Pine.
Many of these old barns have fallen into disuse, but the hand hewn timbers and exterior/interior boards have found a renewed purpose. Reclaimed barn board, including siding, structural timbers and threshing floor planking are perfect for building that special harvest table, unique and creative furniture pieces, barn wood flooring, sliding barn doors and creating rustic wall and ceiling paneling for home, cottage or office. The rustic appeal of barn board is enduring and perfectly complements the modern decor found in many of today’s bars and restaurants.
